I have document exchange 6.1.03 installed. I insert the module to a page where users have to login in order to access the module. I tried to open a PDF using the DMX URL of the file without first login and it prompted me for my ID and password. After providing the credential, I am directed to page without the file being opened. The only way I can open the file automatically is when I first login than use the DMX URL of the file.

I remember that the file was able to open automatically after I login but it seems to not able to work in such a way anymore.

How can I enable this function again? Thanks!

There are two things to note here.

1. If a document is "protected" (i.e. not viewable for "All Users") then DMX needs a login before it will serve the document. If you set the document to be visible to all users then DMX will serve the document. BUT. If the module is then not visible to all users, DNN will still ask for a login. So you should allow the module to be seen by all users if you want to get rid of logins.

2. DMX flags an "Unauthorized" to DNN when someone tries to download a protected document. DNN is then responsible for the rest. I.e. redirecting to the login page and taking the user back to the original url after. This is not DMX's task. DNN *should* redirect after login to the download url, but I cannot guarantee that or influence this.
