I have dmx installed on our current intranet....it is installed on and the address is http:///dotnetnuke.

The powers to be here have decided they want a catchier name and only one name for access.

So they have setup and alias for server and want this as address http:// as address.  I also have to keep the above access going so have redirected that back to alias address.

What I need to know before i start process is if this will affect the license for dmx as I cannot have the document management system down.  I am currently running  dmx 3.2.01 but upgrading to latest soon.

I have asked this question becuase when I use localhost on test machine it works but when I use computername is comes up with licensing issue.

    Regards

    Peter M

    Peter,
The license is irrespective of aliases. Version 3.4+ is tied to DNN installation through the keys you specify in the web.config. Previous versions looked at server hardware.

PS On the test machine it works without activation because the url starts with 'localhost'

    Hi Peter,
Just to be clear, after activation, will DMX work on a specific DNN installation, regardless of what domain name is pointed to it? I ask because my ISP just set up a dedicated server for us, but we don't have the final domain name available yet. We will be using a temporary domain during development, and then when we're ready to go live we will switch the real domain name over from our old site to the new one. This won't break my license, will it?
