Hi Peter,

I upgraded to DMX 4.00.01 this morning on our pre-production server, since upgrading I am getting the following error whenever I try and load the page:

Object reference not set to an instance of an object

I checked the event viewer to get a more detailed description for you which is:

Method: Bring2mind.DNN.Modules.DMX.Framework.ApprovalController.HasContentToApprove
StackTrace:
Message: DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.PageLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at Bring2mind.DNN.Modules.DMX.Framework.ApprovalController.HasContentToApprove(Int32& PortalId, Int32 UserId) at Bring2mind.DNN.Modules.DMX.Framework.ApprovalController.GetRootNode(PortalSettings& Portal, Int32 TabId, Int32 ModuleId, ModuleSettings& ModuleSettings, UserInfo User, Boolean UserIsAdmin) at Bring2mind.DNN.Modules.DMX.ViewCollection.a(String A_0) at Bring2mind.DNN.Modules.DMX.ViewCollection.a(Object A_0, EventArgs A_1) at System.Web.UI.Control.OnLoad(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

Any ideas?

Cheers

Lee

Hi Lee,
You're not running this on SQL 2000 are you?

Peter,

Yes , in my haste to get what looks like a great new release I glanced over the spec but did not concentrate fully on the SQL 2005 pre-requisite. I loaded SQL 2005 Express onto the test machine and all is now well. Just need to convince the men with the calculators to buy us a SQL 2005 license now to run the prod machine, unless Express will suffice.

One other quick thing, is there any way of mass importing the document, folder structures etc from a different machine?

Cheers

Lee

Hi Lee,
1. I run Express for most of my sites. There are limits, but none that I've encountered.
2. You can import docs from any server on your network as long as you manage to give access to the worker process of your DNN installation. This is a sys admin task and can be tricky, but it is completely possible. Note that on the import screen you type the path (in UNC format) and the system will tell you if it can read it. You might need to experiment to get it to work.
