    Hi,

Firstly, can I say that I think the DMX product is superb! However, I've run into a problem.

I've just moved my whole site and database from a server hosted with WebHost4Life to my customers servers. However, I'm having some strange problems. When I click on some files to open them the window opens but I'm not prompted to "Open" or "Save". This only happens on some files and it doesn't seem to be related to file type.

Also, when I click on 'New Item" I get the following error message:-

Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly.

    Requested Url: /M200/HaCIRIC/TemplatesProceedings/tabid/507/DMXModule/1103/Command/Core_Edit/CollectionId/82/Default.aspx

    Server Error in '/' Application.

    The resource cannot be found.

Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:1.1.4322.2407; ASP.NET Version:1.1.4322.2407

All this still works on the server that I copied it all from.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Marcus

    Marcus,
This is an installation error (DNN more than DMX). When copying to another server you must pay careful attention to file attributes and access rights. You can easily wind up with an installation that doesn't fully work. This looks like a permissions issue on particular files. Check out the error message: 'the resource could have been removed' ... then a path to the resource. Is that resource there? If so, can IIS read it?

Thanks for your reply Peter. The DMX is Fantastic! I hope to upgrade to the new one soon but at the moment I'm using SQL2000 (and I think DMX 4 uses SQL2005??).

What do you make of the second problem when I click on "add new item"? Do you think this is permissions related as well? I've removed the DMX module completely and reinstalled it but still have the problem.

    Cheers,

    Marcus.

    Hi Peter,

I've found out something else that may put some light on the situation.

The URL to my clients site uses a port number (e.g. "//custsite.abc.co.uk:8198/Site1/......."). However, when I click on "New Item" it navigates to "//custsite.abc.co.uk/Site1/......." (No Port Number) which causes the error. If I manually add the port number to the URL it continues OK.

    Any ideas?

    Marcus

Well, that could be it. DMX uses a custom url generator that was not designed to handle port numbers. You're likely to run into this more often. I'll see if I can fix that.

    Thanks Peter,

Will you be able to make an ad-hoc fix or is this something you plan for a future release? My client has been using it on a staging server and loves it and we are now ready to 'go live' (on Monday) with the application.

Let me know if there's anyhting I can do to help as I'll be in big trouble if I can't get it working...;(

    Thanks,

    Marcus.

    Marcus,
There is no 'quick fix'. It needs to be implemented in a future release. These take time to create and distribute. Maybe the fast track for you is to contact me by email and you could run the prerelease.
