Still in testing with DMX and someone brought up an interesting request. Is there a way to subscribe other users to an item.

    Example:

We have docs in Public Folders now that, when updated, someone has to email a notification to all managers in the company that this has been updated. When using DMX to replace these folders, we need the ability to automatically subscribe this group rather than depend on them to subscribe themselves. That way, they would get automatic notifications rather than someone having to maintain a distribution list and manually email them.

Not out-of-the-box. It could lead to misuse, so this is not a 'feature' that was foreseen to have a lot of demand for it. What will be sold later is an addon that allows you to send a link to someone that expires and bypasses regular security.

Mike! Great suggestion! Exactly the thing I thought that I would need some days ago: Special roles should be able to subscribe other DNN userroles and single users, set by an Admin in a modules config view.
We're planning to have an editorial staff that will have "kind of" admin rights. And they will have to organize distributions / releases of changed technical documentations in DMX.
So if new collections/categories/objects are added they could setup everything properly and all the participating users and groups could get their notifications right from the beginning! - No more leaks of information...

Since technical documentations in a industrial process are build up almost in same structures and are set together out of hundreds of docs in special categories, this above mentioned feature in combination with kind of a "structure template import / export" - function could save us a lot of time...

    Cheers!

This is my first post, so I'd just like to say how well DMX works.

My organisation would also like our intranet administrators to be able to subscribe particular user groups to particular folders/documents. Has the add-on been developed or could it be developed/added as a standard  DMX feature?

I hear a lot of votes for this. I'm hesitating about implementing this as an addon or in the core. In any case it doesn't make it into DMX 4.0.0.
