Can Adobe Flash files be used in Bring2Mind, if so, then how?

Hi Dave,
How would you like to use them? DMX will store any file, but my guess is you have something in mind. Note that on the file types page you can specify more file types with icons so it will look prettier on screen than an 'unknown' file type.

Hi Peter
Thank you for your quick response, I want to be able to view files directly from Bring2Mind like you can with Media Player files, is this possible?
Regards

Hi Dave,
Yes. In the menu you find an item 'show direct link' which shows you a url that you can use. Embed this in your player and the content will be downloaded to that.

how about having them display in a player on screen? we had posted a similar question earlier about other file types for MP3 and WMV, and FLV or SWF are similar... what we're looking for is the ability to have file types open in a page/custom with the appropriate flash player, silverlight player, etc.
what we'd like to do is use the category listing to display a range of files (swf files or mp3, etc) and based on file type, when the user clicks on the link it would load a page with appropriate player on it (vs download, or having the "open" feature rely on the user's computer settings).
would we create a custom view collection file? has anyone else already done this? |

This will become available for DMX as an addon. It will display a lot of formats. It is in development for dnn.com amongst others.

Hi Peter, do you have any ball-park idea on when this enchancment will be available?
I'm caught between buying DMX or OL (I prefer DMX having dealt with you in the past and been very happy with your support and quality of work) but I really need the ability for users to easily play media files (preferably in an embedded or pop-up player). Media files still need to be optionally secured from direct download...
Thanks, TJ |

Hi Tim
Contact me by email about this and we can arrange for you to get started already. That goes for anyone else under deadlines as well.

Hi Peter,
What is the best way to play swf files in DMX, you mentioned an add-on for playing flash files e.t.c. is that still going to happen?
I am trying to integrate Adobe Captivate swf files into DMX.

Hi,
The easiest way is to use the 'direct link' in DMX to reference the file in a regular object blob in HTML. The discussion above was about some automated ways to show Flash files. What is your use case?
