Document Exchange Professional 5.0.1
DotNetNuke 5.0.0

My company uses Doc Exch Pro regularly.  One of my production guys sent me this list of these UI grievances.

  • Uploading: *after* file has uploaded (according to the progress bar), and "Finish" is clicked, updated page of File Exchange takes 25-45 seconds to load.
  • When deleting items in right-hand pane, pane refreshes yet item is still shown in contents after being deleted.
  • When clicking on subdirectory in left-hand pane, right-hand pane takes about 5 seconds to load.
  • When uploading files, "Next" and "Finish" button don't occupy the same location on the page. Nitpicky, but it's still bad interface design.
  • Thanks,

    Hi Robert,

The first 3 issues are performance related. Although we do everything to streamline our code, the Ajax UI does require a lot of processing cycles and due to continued back and forth between the client and server there are delays. This can also manifest itself as a panel not being adequately updated (point 2). The call has then completed before the server took action. If you cannot increase performance in general of the web application (memory, sql speed, etc) then you might consider using the simplified Template View UI. It works with screen refreshes. Even though it still takes seconds to load a page, people understand that better (and have more patience with that) than a panel that is showing a spinner.

Point 4 is new to me. They should be aligned correctly. Note that in an upcoming release I will revise the input screen and provide an option to show more stuff on a single screen to speed up the upload process.

    Peter
