Hi,

DNN 4.08.04

DMX 5.00.01

When selecting "zip and download" on a folder or file, an error similar to this one is shown :

A critical error has occurred.
size was 7930, but I expected 7823

The size varies with the thing being zipped of course.  The strange thing is that this only started occurring a few days ago, prior to that the zip facility was working.  Nothing has changed in the DNN or DMX installation.

Please advise.

Paul

Hi Paul,

Puzzling. Anything changed in IIS?

You could test a bit more as follows: Upload a zip file without the option to unzip. Download this file. Is it healthy? Then the size was correct. In the table DMX_Entries you'll be able to see the FileSize for the file. This might be a good idea for reference in the next step. Now select this file for edit. Select unzip this time (you can also unzip later as you see). Hit Finish to start the processing. Do you still get the error? Of the two integers mentioned in the error message, which one was correct?

Hi Peter,

Sorry for the delay. I've just revisited the issue and have found that all new files checked into DMX work ok, including new versions of existing files.
There was a period of a few days where we got the "critical error" message, then after that we no longer got the error but instead had the problem where files appeared to download correctly from DMX (ie. zip and download) but they were actually being truncated!
Now the truncation still occurs on old files, but not new.

Strange.

I will add that our web server (Win 2003) was crashing multiple times on the day that the "critical error" started appearing, so who knows what corruption might have been occuring in IIS.

Thanks
Paul

Hi Paul,

If you know which files are affected and the truncation is the same, you might be able to correct the issue with a single SQL statement. Do you find it is always a single byte that is missing?
