I have to say, your help that you provided over the past few weeks was FANTASTIC! Thank you very much. My site is online, and working well.

Q: 1) Is there any way in the future to have the user interface with the ability to add multiple documents at once. Then the 2nd option screen would appear, and allow you to edit each item all on 1 screen?

Q: 2) I see your working on a few solutions on users setting there own time table for notifications. I think this would be a great feature.
* On top of that, I think I have the DMX loaded separately on several different pages throughout my site, all displaying just that DEPARTMENTS FOLDERS, and DEPARTMENTS CATEGORIES. I wish there was a way for users to have 1 page, that a module could pull up each DMX FOLDER, and you could subscribe from 1 page, to each DMX folder that is within that DNN install. I just wish I could have 1 page set up, for a SUBSCRIPTION page, and users could easily subscribe, or unsubscribe. I do realize there is an unsubscribe feature that migrates if you have the permissions set on each separate DMX install on the page, but it doesn't allow you to ADD new ones as easily as it does UNSUBSCRIBE.

Q: 3) With the What's New (extension), I just tried it, and I do like the features it offers, but I wish it could include an entire directory, vice just 1 category at a time. There is a default for ALL categories to display a specific number of documents, but I wish it gave options to select multiple categories at once.

Q: 4) I wish there was a way to have categories linked to roles that will allow notifications to go out. So for instance, if I had a daily file that went out, I wouldn't have to get all my new users to go an subscribe on there own, let alone I have about 15 different DMX installed displaying different info just for that department. If a user wants to subscribe to all, they have to go to each one, and I manually subscribe. If there was a way, for me to just subscribe, Accounting Department, or Communications Department, all at once with a role for the users profile, it would be extremely helpful. I read a previous forum post, where you said you didn't want users receiving emails and notifications for stuff they did not request to receive. I do agree with that, which is why I believe it should remain with the admin only.

Q: 5) When the notifications are sent through the email, I wish there was a way to display at the bottom of each email, the categories of messages that they just received or type of folder it was received from. Basically from the email, there will be a link or an icon, identifying an unsubscribe to that subscription right there in the email for that specific category.
If its not broken down individually it may just have a link going to a specific page, that would have an UNSUBSCRIBE to each area that is available, which goes along the same lines as my Q: 2) above.

I just see making things as easy as possible for users to subscribe, and unsubscribe. The unsubscribe feature from email might not be that difficult, because it could redirect to the feature you already have set up, which is the DMX SUBSCRIPTION AREA with a red heart. If an link from the notification was re-directed back to that location, then they can easily unsubscribe to all the areas they don't want to receive.

Like I said on the phone when we spoke, your doing a fantastic job with this product. DNN is here to stay, and I feel your setting the bar for a commercial document module which can be used for many businesses that have a lot of content.

Thanks again.
Adam

Hi Adam,

Thanks. About your questions:

1. I don't exclude it. There is some demand for it. The important one to solve is the 'bulk edit' screen that is part of this. This is not trivial.

2. Actually the architecture of DMX helps here. It was designed to share content across the portal. Your use of department DMXs is fine. But if you want a single DMX which shows all content for a user, you can go ahead and add one on a 'for all users' page. Users will see only content they're entitled to see anyway. Regardless of where the module starts. Also, if you have specific rendering needs there are several addons to make life easy and if that doesn't help you can always contact us with a description of what you need and we can look at how much it would take to make it.

3. Have you also looked into RSS? It is a similar feature. Alternatively you can use the What's New module and adjust its code.

4. That could be part of a special addon for DMX.

5. I'm not yet sure how that could be done technically without forking the entire notification engine (not desirable). Remember that the notification engine pools notifications from whatever part of DMX.

Thanks,

Peter
