I apologize if I am violating any local work request rules.  But I do need to hire a bit of a consultant's time.

We love the DMX product.  But we are short on time, and do not want to take on any learning-curve right now.  So I hope we can hire a few hours from one of the fine DMX gurus who hang around here.

We need two things now:

1. A quick-uploader that lets our administrators load files into a Customer Downloads folder, all authorized and ready to download, and with permissions allowing a single user to see and download them.  We would prefer that we be able to drag the files from a Windows folder, with the correct DotNetNuke UserID encoded in the folder name.  If that can be grabbed from the drag source, it would be ideal.  But we can live with having to pick a user on the upload form, before we drop files on it.  Or perhaps we could, within DMX, browse to a folder on the workstation and upload its entire contents.  We are flexible!  A major point here is that we do not want to show most of the DMX interface.  We want the admins to have a simple-as-possible interface, to do this one task.

2. A quick-downloader that lets our customers download those files that were uploaded by the admins above.  The page will only be visible to registered users.  And again we want to have a super-simple interface with little or no menu bar.

I am happy to have this discussion publicly.  Especially if it helps you folks find paying work!  But I am also happy to take this private, if that is appropriate.  I can be reached in this thread, or directly at emerson@cygnusoft.com.

I await your enlightened guidance.

Cheers,
Emerson Swan

Hi Emerson,

I'm confident you can do essentially what you are describing with the correct DMX folder structure and security role or user permissions. The drag and drop is possible with DMX WebDAV, but is  more complex to setup.

You can  keep it very simple if you go with the concept for the admins of browsing to a folder on the 'admins' workstation or network share to upload files to the appropriate DMX folder. You should use the Template view to keep the UI simple and clean.

If you haven't found someone already, I would be glad to work with you.

Thanks for the great guidance.  I was able to create the desired download behavior with very little effort using the template view.

And we decided that it was OK to have a folder-per-customer in DMX, so the uploader can be done with a relatively simple configuration of the template view as well.

Kudos to you, and to Peter Donker, for such great support.  I sure wish the whole software world was as responsive and knowledgeable as you folks.

Cheers,
