Version 5.0.2

When I am a non-administrative user, I see a red message saying "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" in the lower-left corner of the screen when adding an item (file) to a folder.

  1. I right-click on the folder and select "New Item ..."
  2. I leave "File" selected and click "Select"
  3. I browse to and select the file to upload (have gotten the problem with a .pdf, a .gif and a .jpg)
  4. I click "Next"
  5. I click "Finish" and see:

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Hi Bryan,

Did you set 'Permissions by admins only' on this folder?

Yes - as I have continued to experement, it has something to do with that setting.  I wanted average (non adminstrator users) to be able to upload files but not to be given a screen to manage permissions so I set the folder with that setting.

Is there a different way to accomplish the same thing?

I'm having the same problem.  I turned the "Perissions Only By Admin" off and got the same error bbeswick got.

I have snce turned it back on, but there is still no permissions "step" for no-admin users in the wizard and I now cannot upload a file as a non-admin user.

OK, I figured out that I had turned on the "Perissions Only By Admin" in the Admin Menu.  When I turned it back off users could finish the wizard without the error

To be clear, the files did upload, but were never fully added so they don't show up in the folder.  Now I have a bunch of "orphaned" files that have been uploaded.  How do I get rid of them without harming the valid files that are displayed in the folder?

So, is this a bug?

Indeed this is a bug. I hope to have a fix out by the end of the week.

Hi Peter,

I see that this bug has been fixed in 05.00.04. How do you fix the "orphaned" files that are not completely uploaded?

Thanks.

Hi Patrick,

Do you mean files that are only there in 'data' but never actually made it to disk so they don't download? So more like 'ghost files'?
