I've got a contract for a site that has a 'resources' section.  Nothing too complicated:

  • Page 'A' lets users upload documents and attach metadata.
  • Page 'B' lets the user search on any of the metadata fields.
  • Page 'C' is search results.

Pretty straight forward and I know DMX can do this out of the box.  However the client is completely baffled by the default interface and it's way too complex for the audience (the spec calls for a very 'old school' approach).  So, can I create an instance of the module that will default to the Advanced Search (or make a HTML form that will feed the search)?  I know I can use a URL to default to the add resource screen.

If the answer's yes (with a few words of explanation) I'll send the client along with a credit card.

Thanks,

Dan

Hi Dan,

Virtually anything is possible. This most certainly. But you might need a little custom project for the search page. You can do it yourself based on the partial src version (it includes the code used in the advanced search box), or you can contact us for this. Other than that I'd advise you to use the templated UI for the first page as it is a 'simplified' and highly flexible UI. They might very well like this.
