We are in the midst of setting up DMX for our intranet portal and loading about 2-3k documents in it.  In organizing our DNN portal, I have a plan for setting things up and I'm wondering if it's even feasible.

We have one page called DMX which is the DMX install, allowing certain people in each dept access to specific department folders based on their AD permissions.  If anyone wants to search for a document, they can either type in the filename into the search bar in the home page, or navigate to DMX and start searching through the categories - we're hiding the folders.

What I'd REALLY like to do is set up RSS feeds or some kind of filter that would show the IT docs on the IT page, show the AR docs on the Accts Receiveable page, Legal docs on the Legal page, etc.  We're going to have each department have two columns on the main page - one for blog postings/articles pertinent to that dept, and the other the DMX files specific to that department.

Any idea if it's possible?

Hi Matthew,

DMX was designed for this type of thing. Check out the shortlist module (under DMX > extensions on this site) for instance. It shows just a download list of documents under a particular folder. Use that to put lists on pages throughout the portal. It is also easy to customize. Second: templated view. Set the root of a DMX instance to a particular folder and switch to template view. It is pretty powerful and easy to adapt.
Delve into the Getting started manual as well (under download link through front page).
