We're having a problem using direct links to secured documents from IE8. People using these links are redirected to the login page but after logging in there's a prompt from IE about an attempt to download a file. When you OK this action, nothing further happens.

This occurs only in IE8 from what I've seen.

Any ideas how we can work around this?

thanks

Hi Scott,

I'm not aware of such an issue. Does this happen for all types of document?

We've been having the issue with PDFs as well as PPTs. We've configured DMX to download rather than view PDF files as we were having issues with IE and the Adobe Reader plugin.

But from what I can determine this would be an issue for any one accessing protected content (with permissions) via a direct link before being logged in. A link sent in an email for instance.

thanks

Hi Scott,

The links that DMX generates for notifications and search results point to the default DMX instance of your site. This is configurable through the Main Options. If this default DMX is on a page that is not visible for All Users, then users will be prompted for a login despite the fact that the document could be for All Users. This is because DNN overrides at this point.
