Hi,

We have some performance  trouble using core v3.04.06. An update on a document takes more than 30 secondes (with 201 096 document entries) . So:

  1. How to improve that ?
  2. Is upgrade to v5 difficult and improves perf ?
  3. To upgrade I think we need to buy a complete licence . Do you confirm?
  4. How to access to sources safely - that is to say - if there is a support problem , how to have the way to get the full sources
  5. Document Exchange (OEM) : can we provide the partial source to our customer ?  Vertical solution : only one or all vertical solutions we produce   (ie :' your owns vertical solutions') ?

Hi Lucien,

I'll try to answer all your issues, but first: what DNN version are you using? 03.04.06 is the DMX version I guess.
1. Not sure: depends on the above.
2. v5 performance is not inferior to 3 but there are a number of UI changes that can throw people off. The default UI uses Ajax to navigate around. The benefit is that you don't need to hop pages, but it can appear a touch slow at times. So there's also a more straightforward UI that resembles DMX 3 more.
3. Yes. DMX 3 to 5 is a new purchase.
4. Check out the licensing page under the DMX menu on this site. There is no full src version, only partial src.
5. You can not provide the partial src to your customers, no. You can produce as many verticals as you want.

Merci pour une si rapide réponse,...

1) So  DNN version is 04.04.01

...

4) There is no full src version : I'm ok , but what happens if I miss you :>)  ;

You know I work for companies which need to be sure to find all the elements of construction of their information system, even if I have a fatal accident.

Thus simply to assure the availability of your program sources in case (exeptionnel I wish it) of such risks, what proposition can you make? I know that it is not very pleasant, but when the whole documentary system is based on, it seems to me justified to ask the question. It is not a question of marketing it, nor even of using it without your authorization.

Hi Lucien,

Understood about the src. What I offer is individual arrengements for 'escrow'. This is quite costly, so I leave it for the client to instigate. These are agreements between Bring2mind and the customer specifically.

About performance: your best bet is to do a trial to see. Upgrade a copy of your installation to DNN 04.09.05 and then upgrade to DMX 05.01.03 (downloadable from this site). Then you follow instructions from the installation manual to upgrade 3 to 5. Finally you trial activate. You then have a fully functional 30 day timeframe to test DMX 5 performance.
