Locking Timeout

How can I adjust the "lock timeout"? I would like for someone to be able to lock a document indefinitely and give the admin the rights to unlock a document (in case the user forgets to unlock the document). Thanks.

The choices I see in version 5.1.3 of DMX are: 20 minutes 1 Hour 4 Hours 12 Hours 24 Hours 2 Days 1 Week But I'm looking for a choice that says "Indefinitely". What I want to do is set it to indefinitely but still allow for the possibility of an Admin to force an unlock.

Hi Patrick, Indefinite doesn't exist. You might try to hack it by going to the following file: portals/[id]/DMX.config. In there you'll find the length and measure of the timeout. You could set it to 100 days that way for instance. Note that that will get reset when you edit and update your settings somewhere, though. I'm sorry it's that difficult, but this is not a scenario we came up with when designing this. Peter

Hi Peter I see the options are still the same in the latest version. I would lke to be able to lock files for at least a month. I can see this causing all sorts of trouble in my situation where there will be a lot of team document editing. If a user locks a file and then is still working on it when the lock times out another user will think the file is free, download it and work on it. Then there will be two versions committed separately. Is the hack advice the same?

Hi Gus, Do you see MainOptions.ascx? You'll see a dropdown ddLockDuration. Under that are all the options. You can easily add an option. You don't need to use a resourcekey as you won't use localization for the value. But you can enter as many timespans as you like. Peter
