Hello

Opening pdf-Files with DMX Category Shortlist can cause issues within Internet Explorer. It is not consistent, some times it works maybe for one time and the next time you click the same link a blank page appears instead of the File. I tried this from different computers. On a computer with Internet Explorer 6 even the Download.aspx file gets downloaded. If the blank page appears, you can force a redraw with F5 and the document appears! I tried this with different Internet Explorer versions and the newest AdobeReader 9.2. The Webserver is on Windows 2003 64bit, DNN 5.1.4, DMX 5.1.3, CatShortList 2.2.0. I tried without caching (in Host Settings) and without PageBlaster. I checked for the correct mime type on the server and with DMX (Application/pdf).

The issues are NOT:
- when you are (the user is) logged in,
- with other browsers,
- with DMX FlexList and the same files,
- with DMX main module and the same files,
- with the DNN Documents module and the same files,
- with all pdf files but some ones, but this can change,
- with files other than pdf.

I know that there are issues with Adobe Reader and Internet Explorer, which do not depend on DMX. And there may be some other module with my DNN installation causing this. But as you see above, there are other (DMX) Modules where the issues don't occur.

You can see the behaviour at a production page:
http://www.sportklasse.ch...bid/444/Default.aspx (try the first file)

Peter, couldn't you implement with DMX Category Shortlist the same download logic as with DMX FlexList?

Kind regards
Nicolo

Hello

I have tried out a lot of settings to solve this annoying problem. As I went through the HostSettings and changed settings like Site Log Buffer under Advanced Settings.. Other Settings and then went through the web.config and removed the <!-- The system.webServer section is required for IIS7 compatability It is ignored by IIS6--> section the problem is solved. But I wasn't able to reproduce the issue by setting back the changes! And i can't see a relation between those setting changes and the problem. It's too bad that the solution isn't reproducable.

Kind regards
Nicolo

Hi Nicolo,

This is something that has recently cropped up. It concerns the Adobe/IE combination which seems to be tricky in certain combinations. We've made an adjustment to DMX 5.2 to try to solve this. But we're also convinced that some combinations of IE and Acrobat just don't play well together. See also this page:
