As the admin, I have set up and imported a series of folders (collections) and the heirarchy shows up fine with the expected ability to maneuver among the documents and levels. When I log on as a user with view and edit rights (within DNN and applied directly to the module via settings), all folders and documents dissappear. Approval was not turned on and therefore shouldn't have been invoked in the import so why aren't the docs visible to a general user???? What am I missing??? Thanks, Mike

Sorry to be so noisy here but I found the problem. When I imported the document folders, the entry in the dnn_dmx_entries file for the fields EditRoles and ViewRoles were set to ;Administrators; the appropriate values (in my case) should be ;0;3;1; for ViewRoles and ;0;3; for EditRoles. Performing a little SQL surgery made everything fall into the appropriate roles and all is working fine now :-) Thanks, Mike

When importing you should note that it takes the collection you're importing to as a 'template'. That is, it will take the view and edit roles from that. Note that you can also change the permissions on a collection and all of its children by selecting 'reset permissions on children' when editing the collection. This will save you from going into SQL to do it yourself. Peter

Peter, first - thanks for the module, it does much in the way of providing a good cms. I understand that the import took the security of the root, which is where I imported to, as its default values however the values that it took were wrong. It should have placed the numeric key of the role into the field not the text value. I have tried to find an area where I could edit the collections but have not been able to find it. If you could give me a pointer to where it can be found, I would surely appreciate it. Thanks, Mike

I see it now. You tried to import into the root. There is no 'collection', rather it takes its security from the containing module. And for that I used to use Me.ModuleConfiguration.AuthorizedViewRoles. This has changed to role names in DNN 3. I changed it for all other functions except import ... Peter

Peter, on the assumption that the behavior for documents should be reflected in the behavior of collections, I noted the urls of the hover over the description of the folder ( collection ) and the folder icon. The urls are as follows: http://ohrinside.ohr.com/...ult.aspx?EntryId=176 http://ohrinside.ohr.com/...ult.aspx?EntryId=176 However, the behavior is the same whether the icon is clicked or the description is clicked - you go to the collecction contents. My assumption here is that the behavior when clicking the icons is to go to a properties page of the collection, which never happens in my case. Any suggestions?? Thanks, Mike

Mike, This is true. You go to collection details by clicking on the title above the file list once you've navigated to that collection. Details of collections are hardly used and therefore more 'hidden'. Peter
