Accessing Documents with other modules

Peter, I want other modules to access the files in my portal of which is being control by document exchange. I want to get around the fact that Document Exchange assumes that no other program accesses/changes these files and it will do all it can to prevent unauthorized access. I want to be able to use the links modules and other to create links to the files that DMX is managing. How do I do this? Thanks.

Hi Herman, Check out the "direct link" when you right click a file. That link will provoke a download of the file through DMX. You'll quickly see the pattern. All that changes is the EntryId which is the identifier of a file. It all depends on what you want to achieve but you can create links to files from other modules that way. Note you can also look at the source code of the ShortList addon (available to you if you've bought the module). This shows how you can get the contents of a folder and display a bunch of download links. Peter
