Do Deletes Require Approval?

DMX Version: 05.00.05, DNN Version: 04.09.00

In our system we have our DMX users split into Editors (View/Add/Edit) and Approvers (View/Add/Edit/Approve) roles.

We've found that when an Editor goes into DMX and deletes an approved document, it disspears from any flexlist or shortlists that were pointing to that folder, as well as from the main DMX module, this happens immediately.

So the document is being deleted by someone who doesn't have Approver permissions and it disspears from the site immediately, from the Approver/Editors views anyway. Admins can still go in and recover the document.

The Approvers gets an email saying they need to approve the deletion, but when they go into DMX it is not listed in the folder it was deleted from and their is nothing listed in the non-approved or un-approved lists.

Is this expected? Are we doing something wrong? Could this be a bug? Shouldn't the document remain on the site for viewing by all users who have permission to do so, until the deletion is approved by someone with approval permissions?

Hi Peter,

This is "by design". The workflow is pretty basic. More advanced workflow I hope will be implemented once we all go to .net 4 (which includes better workflow support for web apps). For now the only workflow there is is in the creation of an item and not deletion. What is a bug is that notifiers get notified about the deletion.
