I have a DMX set up that has a custom folder for each user based on the username. This allows them to have their own files in their own folder and noone else can see them. However, when the files are added to one of the categories I have created, other users are able to see them. Is this how it is supposed to work? How can I make it so that only that user can see the files in the categories. Or instead, how can I make it so that each user has multiple folders under their main foilder for organization? So far Ive only been able to have each user have only one folder created automatically.

Hi Mike,

When a user folder is created (automatically) it inherits the permissions from the parent folder. So if the parent folder is visible to everyone the child folder is as well. What you need to do is to set it to be visible to a restricted group. You'll also need to edit the permissions on already created folders. Then, when a new folder is created and a user adds a file the permissions should be restricted.

On another note: you should be aware that categories are permissionless. And the file's own permissions are what governs if the file can be seen by someone. So if the user adds it to category X then all users that can see that file can see it under category X.
