Hi Peter,

I am trying to find out what is being stored in the Portals\0\DMX\Temp folder. We are having issues where a number of large files get trapped in that folder and this causes the server to go low on space. I thought it would be a temporary upload folder but when I tested, that seems to be Portals\0\DMX\Upload folder. Does the "Portals\0\DMX\Temp" folder get cleared automatically ? Is there a way to clear it more frequently ?

Could you please let me know when files get written to this folder and if there is any way to change that path to map to some other folder on another server maybe.

Thanks..

Ok.. I think I found out that doing a MAilMe causes a file to be dropped into that folder.

Is there a way I can clear out that folder more frequently, maybe hourly ?? A DMX Setting that I missed or by modifying the partial source ???

Hi,

There is a DMX Maintenance task in the scheduled tasks of DNN. You should be able to increase frequency there.

Hi Peter,

Other than clearing out the tempfolder, does this task do othermaintenance. I want to know if running that task hourly would have any other effects on DMX or the portal as a whole.

Thanks

Apart from clearing out temp files it also compacts any old DMX log files.

I just viewed history for the maintenance task and I see a series of these errors. Have you seen this before. Do you know what could have caused these?

Bring2mind.DNN.Modules.DMX.Services.Schedule.Maintenance, BRING2MIND.DNN.MODULES.DMX.CORE
DMX Maintenance failed: Cannot create a file when that file already exists. ( at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath) at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError() at System.IO.File.Move(String sourceFileName, String destFileName) at Bring2mind.DNN.Modules.DMX.Common.Globals.AddFilesToZip(String ZipFilePath, List`1 Files, Boolean DeleteOriginal) at Bring2mind.DNN.Modules.DMX.Services.Schedule.Maintenance.DoWork())

Hi,

I haven't seen that before. Try to clear out what is there and see if this happens again. It could be an erratic locked file or the like.

Files are being deleted from the Temp folder and there is nothing getting stuck in there. Is there any other folder that I should be looking at.
The error message happens when it tries to create/move a zip file. Where would that be. I am not sure which folder I should be looking at to see if files are getting stuck
I should also mention that we started seeing deadlocks on the DMX_EntryPermissions table when we increased the frequency of the DMX Maintenance job.

Unpacking and packing happen in the DMX/Temp folder. Creating a zip happens when you want to download a number of items at once. Is that your case?

Deadlocks should be less in DMX 5.2.11 and higher.
