The company I work for has recently been looking to implement a document proofing solution.

I discovered the module here and installed the trial on one of our test sites.

But I've run into a big problem. We have a hierarchy of users.

I want a particular set of users (members of a role) to be able to see a folder that contains lots of subfolders, and I want another set of users to only be able to see a certain subfolder.

It works fine for the high level users, but when I log in as a low level user I don't see anything, not the subfolders which I've propogated the permissions too, and not even the files I've placed in that folder.

Has anyone encountered this before? I'd really like to present this as a solution because of the templatable UI, but if the security doesn't or cannot work this way, I'll have to look for something else.

Thank you for your time.

Hi Zach,

the issue is that the top folder is not visible by everyone. So it does not appear even though there is content below it that is visible for the user. There are a couple of ways out of this:

1. You give them view permission on the parent folder. The downside is that every time you add something to that folder you need to keep in mind to change the visiblity accordingly.

2. You add DMX somewhere on a page visible to your subgroup (so this is a solution if there are not that many subfolders) and set the DMX's root to the subfolder. Then the visibility of the parent is irrelevant.
