I have a DMX installation that is growing to large to be stored locally and I'm considering changing the storage provider to the S3 Provider. I see there is a script that in the Control Panel (Move Old Content To New Storage Provider). Does this script remap the items in the database as well as physically send the DMX folder/file structure to an S3 bucket, or should the folders/files be moved prior to running the script.

In short, I need to procedure for migrating an existing install from local storage to S3.

TIA

The script *attempts* to move the file physically and if confirmed updates the database.

The word *attempts* makes me nervous.

In the above attempts actually was meant as a reassurance. The issue is that with for instance S3 storage we can't be sure the service is running and the storage will work. This has led to issues before as the storage provider was designed to assume storage was 100% sure to happen. Now there are checks. So if the storage to S3 somehow fails (e.g. network down) the following code (i.e. telling DMX the file is now in S3 and delete it from the old storage) will *not* run any more to prevent data loss.

Hope that helps.
