I am attempting to create user-based private folders that are for user personal view only purpose. The documents are source folder leading sync'd.

If I create a new ID and the user opens the DMX module first before an initial folder/document sync up then everything works as desired. But if documents are sync'd up so the user-based private folder is created before the user opens the DMX module for the first time then the user cannot access their private folder. Instead they are locked into the common base root folder.

Is there a way to configure this to allow the permissions to be setup properly regardless if the user folder/documents are uploaded before the user opens the DMX module?

Thank you.

What is happening in the second scenario is that the sync logic encounters a folder that is not yet there and creates it with the default inherited permissions. If the user logs in again and navigates to the page where you set the root folder pattern it should check the view permission and add it if missing (option on the folder pattern). Note the root folder is cached for him/her so to properly test it you'll need to empty the cache (Host Settings page) and have the user navigate to the page again.

If this doesn't work in your case can you tell me the version nr of DMX you're using?

It's not working like you described. I tried clearing the cache and also just disabled all caching. I am running version 05.03.07 as a trial from localhost. Appreciate any help you can provide.

I'd need to have a look at your installation to find verify this. Would that be possible? I can be reached at peter at bring2mind dot net.
