I found out that the categories are sometimes lost when editing item attributes.
We use the wizard edit without the intermediate finish button. We have set up several categories in a hierarchical order, so there is one top category that includes two subcategories and they include many subsubcategories etc.
When any item (that has some categories set) is being edited the editor must come to the Categories step due to the missing intermediate finish button. On this page, the category tree is collapsed so that only the single top category is displayed. If the editor just clicks on the Finish button, the categories of the item are lost. However, if he expands the category tree (and even collapses it again) and THEN clicks the Finish button, the categories are kept.
When we used to allow the intermediate Finish button, the categories were being kept.
We are currently using the DMX 5.3.9 with DNN 5.5.1.
