We are running version 5.3.9 of DMX as a trial. We expect to be relying heavily on the WebDAV feature, but have found the contents of a directory do not appear in Windows Explorer when the directory name contains an ampersand character. Also, uploading via WebDAV fails when file or folder names contain ampersands.

Is it at all possible to fix this, and soon? There will be an executive decision made within a few days as to whether we will be adopting a DNN based collaboration & file management solution, and the whole thing depends on DMX functioning properly!!!

I'll see if it can be replicated. But "soon" sounds like it's a no go. We have a release process that takes time, so I can't see how we can help you.

I've been doing some research on this. It turns out I could reproduce it on my Win 7 IIS 7.5 machine. The problem was that the ampersand violated the rules of IIS. To bypass this I added the following to httpRuntime in the web.config: requestPathInvalidCharacters="" It worked after that (DNN 6.0.2).

I got the info here:

I've heard of this, and I think it's a database issue. If you have third-party software that doesn't recognize certain symbols (most do), it will kick it back as unfindable. Most ediscovery software these days is pretty good at getting past this, but you get what you pay for!
