Purchased DMX6 today from DNN store - 6/16/2012. I installed DMX6 per the installation instructions, being careful to edit the web.config to increase the timeout to 240 - during the install, I still got a timeout error. (I'm hosted on PowerDNN) I have tried to follow the uninstall instructions and can do all except the SQL commands, as my environment is hosted and I do not have access to Query Analyzer. First error I got was "Request Timeout" Now, even after doing the manual steps to uninstall which I could do, I get: Upload Results If you have reached this page it is because the installer needs to gather some more information, before proceeding. Clicking Next has no effect. Any help is appreciated, Charles |

The most important thing is to get the web.config cleaned up. That means removing every line that contains the word "Bring2mind". That way there are no more dependencies on the module. After that you can run the uninstall script under host > SQL to remove everything from SQL. Run it a couple of times and it really should have ripped out everything. It'll probably show up with errors along the lines of "can't remove XYZ as there is no such procedure/table" etc. So that's fine. The file system is of lesser concern as a new install should overwrite all files. Finally the module registration should not be there. If you see "Document Exchange" in the module dropdown, then it went all the way to registration (actually it should have been a successful install if it got that far). It is more tricky to uninstall this bit. I'll elaborate if necessary. Then for reinstalling you must find out how come this timed out. 240 secs = 6 minutes. By any measure that should be ample time to upload a module and install it. So my question is: did you see the request timeout after 6 minutes? If so then you'll need to increase. If not, then they're overriding this value at PowerDNN and you'll need to check with them. Peter |

I have tried to get this installed and have failed. I am now asking for support from the PowerDNN support people. After trying multiple times, the result is always the same - I do get a timeout error after 360 seconds. I will post any result I get from the PowerDNN support people. Thanks, Charles |

I'm sorry for your predicament, but installation timeouts are not related to the module, but to your hosting environment. There's nothing I can do for you unfortunately. Best, Peter |

Peter, Finally fixed. I had to get the PowerDNN people to install the module for me. Not sure of why I had an issue, but it is fixed. Thanks, Charles |

the issue is that this model does not clean up after itself. In my case, i tried to un-install, following carefully the instructions to remove the bring2mind entries in web.config. Must have missed one and got into all sorts of bother. IMHO, any module that puts entries into web.config during install then cant clean up after itself during un-install is rubbish. We should not have to go to web.config and manually remove entries!. For any installation that has hundreds of documents to manage, i recommend you get the DNN pro version. its vastly superior and worth every cent in comparison to the time you'll waste with this product. I spend a great deal of time evaluating the two and couldn't even manage getting the categories setup in this module through the clumsy UI. Why on earth the developers have opted for a windows file manager UI in a web environment is a mystery Avoid at all costs. |
