So I have a directory that DMX is pointing to, with setting of "Copy Both Ways". The files have been picked up in the directory fine, and are being displayed in the DMX tool.

A user decided to rename a file (from file manager) and when the DMX job ran, it deleted the file completely.

So a little confused here. How is this "Copy both ways" if DMX is deleting files that have been renamed? It seems a little stupid to have to copy the original file, rename it to the required name, and then delete the original file.

That could indeed happen. You need to keep in mind that synchronization is not aware of any renames and looks at file timestamps to check if they were modified. In this case the user renamed the file so there was an old file (i.e. with an old date/time) with no copy remote and a remote copy (also old) with no DMX copy. It decided that both were old and obsolete and deleted both.

Just for my info here: which version of DMX were you using? And were both the DMX and the remote files deleted or just one of the two?
