We are running DMX on DNN 5.6 and IIS6 (windows 2003 server). Clients are running Windows XP or 7 with IE 8 or 9.

I have followed all the documentation, all settings on server and client side are correct.

Still we are not able to open a folder in Windows Explorer (nothing happens), or a document in Word. Word starts, with a active-x warning as described in your manuals. After that Word is saying it's unable to open the document.

Feel free to send me a saz file to look at by email. It is by far the most effective tool to debugging WebDAV.
