Hi Peter,
I am currently looking at the DMX Document Management module for one of my clients. I have installed it on by development site and have begun to explore.
Currently I have an instance installed on the admin page with unaltered file tree. This is where I would like to do the uploads from.
I have a second instance installed on the employees page where I have the User ID configured to set up a file in the tree when an new employee first logs on.
My client needs to be able to upload a zip file containing PDF payroll documents and have it unzipped with each document going to the employee's file (based on User ID or User name). The employees then need to be able to view thier own payroll file but of course no one else's. Is this possible? If so, any special way I need name files etc, before I zip thyem for upload?

It's tricky, but it can be done. It all relies on the zip file having the exact same structure as DMX with it's user based folders. So if you're using UserID as the field to use for creating the folders, then the zip file must contain those folders as well. And then the financial person needs to upload that to the parent folder and select "unzip". The unzipping will attempt to put everything in the folder specified in the zip file. So the documents will fall in place.
A note about security. The important part is that the parent folder of the user-based folders has only access permissions for management, not all employees. The user based folder option to "add permission" means that the user gets added personally to his own folder. You will also need to specify that the permissions need to be unified on the user based folder as maybe management had already uploaded content before the user first logs on.
