I installed document exchange last thursday and today the search feature stopped working. I have no clue what is going on.

I don't either. Something obviously must have been changed. Maybe the app pool settings, maybe something else on the server.

Now I am getting a box asking me for username and password. My site password does not work for this. Is there a US number or skype member that can walk me through trouble shooting this?

No there isn't. Obviously this is not an issue with the module, but at another level (i.e. DNN or Server/IIS).
