When I add the default file viewer interface to a page with admin only permissions, all my files become accessible only to admin users regardless of the individual file settings.
I'd like to give other users direct links to files, but not give them access to view the file tree interface, how can this be accomplished?
Thanks

DNN acts as an "envelope" to the module. Regardless of what a module does: if the page is hidden from certain users, the page won't show or be accessible for those users. This is why DMX has the concept of sharing content throughout the portal. I.e. regardless of where it sits in the portal, it displays the same contents. And those contents are subject to their own security settings. So you can add it to a public page and a non authenticated user will only see content available for "All Users".
Now, about the "file viewer". This is called the "Ajax UI" in DMX. It resembles a Windows Explorer interface. There is an alternative representation called "Template View". This is a more trimmed down experience for end users. But regardless of the UI you choose to deliver the DMX content: the security settings of folders and files is always respected for the end user.

The idea is that the Ajax UI works great as a tool for administrators to add and manipulate files.
I'd like to be able to keep that, but at the same time limit it to only admins, while lower level users use a more stripped down templated interface.
Any suggestions?
Thanks again!

That is *exactly* one of the use cases for DMX. Stick the module on another page (not available to admins) and switch to templated UI and select the simple template for instance.
