Feature Request: Apply Categories and Permissions to selection 2628 2

Here's another suggestion that comes out of my recent experience setting up a DMX solution, sorting a large number of files into categories and folders, and setting access permissions.
I often want to set the same permssions, or assign the same categories, to a several files/folders. If on the Selection menu there was a Permissions and a Categories option, that would save a lot of time. They would not have to figure out if the items in the selection already shared the same permissions/categorie...

I have two topics:
1st,
I have enabled RSS on a given instance of DMX.&160; I have tested it and verified that all is fine and I get a list of files.
I have verified that those file are associated with a given Category.
Then, if I enable the RSS category filter(from rss admin in the DMX mod., my RSS feed shows no files.
As far as I can tell this feature isn't working.&160; Hopefully I am wrong and you will set me right.&160; :-)

Sorry if this has been covered before, but I have been looking through forum threads, and haven't found my answer.
I have folders/ set up thusly, with all having View/Edit/Add:
Client 1
Client 2
Vendor 1
Vendor 2
The idea is that those in TheCompanyRole (my employer) can manage files in all folders, but clients are restricted to their own folders.
I have test users subscribed to their respective folders, but when I add files, I am not notified. I have not changed any notification sett...

&160;I am new to DNN and document exchange so please&160;forgive me in advance if I posted in the wrong section or left anything out.&160; We just upgraded from version 4 to version 5 on a site for a customer and they are having issues uploading files.&160; It was working before the upgrade.

Hi Peter
I am using DMX 5 with DNN 4.9
I had DMX working ok - I had created folders under the root and all was appearing to work ok - except for WebDAV.
After 1 day, I am now logging in via VPN and all the permissions seems lost.&160; Could this be something to do with the problem - I wouldn't think so as I can work on my site which is an intranet.

storage quota per user
integration into Windows Explorer for quick upload/download for files with apropriate permissions (kind of Sharepoint)

Show Direct Link property incorrect? 3081 1

I do not know if I am doing something wrong, or what, but I get two different URL's when I right click on a doc and select Direct Link or navigate. Should they not be the same value
Here is an example of the two URL's for the same exact document, the Navigate URL works, the Direct link ends up sending users to the home page&160;-

Categories : the data could not be loaded 3304 12

Hi Peter,
I can't add category.
In admin categories, when I click on save button, I always have this message 'The data could not be loaded'.
I use DMX 5 and DNN 4.9. DMX is activated.
I have no special error in site logs.

I have a group of users who are now actually going to use the document management features of DMX (what a concept) and need to be able to check-in/check-out files.&160; Although there is no such feature in DMX 5 (which I recently upgraded to)&160;I presume the Lock feature performs the same purpose.

Hi Peter,
I've been playing around with the Navigator add-on&160;with DMX 5 and believe there may be a problem with the width and height setting options.
I want to use the '-1' values here (for both width and height)&160;to let the module auto expand without ever getting the scroll bars, just as it did in the previous DMX 3.x version of Navigator.
The Navigator accepts the -1 settings, but I continue to get the scroll bars. I cleared cache and restarted DNN application without success.

Hi Peter,
I think you will likely be thinking 'huh' when you read this, but here goes.
The TemplateView is faster, simplified, customizable&160;and visually is&160;much more like the simpler DMX 3 view. However, DMX 3 still benefitted by use of the 'DMX Navigator' folder tree add-on when it made sense for a specific DMX instances.
So, are you thinking of making a DMX 5 version of 'Navigator' for use with TemplateView I think this combination would still maintain the simplification of Temp...

Where do I set user roles / permissions for uploading n new item 3946 1

Thank in advance for your help! I know I am doing something wrong, but after reading through the documentation I still haven't figured out where I set user permissions for uploading a file.
If I am a super user I can upload a file with no problem, But a regular user can not see the 'New Item' option under the Folder tab.
Where do I set the permissions so a regular users an see the new item option and add a new file with out having to be made an admin

Hi Peter,
I am seeing a behavior that is slowly becoming a serious issue for my DMX site. When I have multiple modules on the page including the DMX Module, when the page loads the DMX module forces the page to scroll until the module title is on the screen. Aslong as the title is in focus on the initial page the page will not scroll it’s only when the module is a ways down that the page has to reset the focus.&160; This was not a serious issue at first but as I continue development there are ...

Add to clipboard with TemplateView 3039 1

Peter,
With TemplateView, an icon appears to the right of an entry to 'Add to Clipboard'. When that is selected, new icons appear at the top for 'Clear/Copy/Move' clipboard.
What seems to be missing is a visual indicator on the item(s) added to the clipboard. Currently, even after 'added to clipboard' the icon next to the item does not change (still says 'Add...').
Perhaps this is a template setting I do not have, but it would seem to make sense if the icon next to the added item were to visu...

When using TemplateView, is there a token available&160;for the PageTemplate that will&160;display a search icon to allow the search&160;of the current DMX module In other words, a way to get to your DMX specific search function

Hi Peter,
Can you just clarify this for me. If I turn off obfuscation after&160;files have been entered into the database, presumably a script runs to rename&160;them all, and&160;all&160;the existing content in DMX works as normal
Also should I choose to turn it back on again, everything still works as normal.
So&160;in effect turning it on or off is totally transparent to the user.

Hi Peter,
I was playing around with changing the breadcrumbs template as it looked the least intimidating (I clearly don't think of myself very good with HTML and CSS, etc.)
I was thinking, maybe I would like the breadcrumbs to look more like a directory path, e.g.,
TopFolder1\subfolder1\subfolder2 etc.
However, I found that the existing&160;separator character '>' must be included or the breadcrumbs won't display anything at all.
