Disable DMX Folder for portal editors 3949 1
Started by Jaume
Hi,
I would like to avoid portal content editors to acces DMX Repository through DNN File Manager or by using the rich text editor 'View Server files'. (i.e. in a Text/HTML module could not browse to DMX directory).
If as a host or portal administrator I remove view rights in DMX directory for Editors' role (or everyone), will it affect DMX functionallity&160;
Which secutiry rights should I leave with DNN File Manager
Thanks,

Working on documents in a workgroup 3484 1
Started by Philipp Becker
I need an advice what the best option is to work on a document as a group of people. What those people need is some sort of checkout functionality so that other members of the group know that someone is actively working on a given document.
Can this be achieved by using the 'lock' functionality I was hoping so, but then I figured that there is no 'unlock' menu item after locking a file.

DMX as replacement for DNN FileManager : synchronisation 4643 1
Started by I-Company Webdevelopment
Hi!
We just bought DMX and are glad with the many options it provide but, despite searching the forums and the web, we can't put our finger on how to do the following:
We already have a live site with loads of documents/images etc, total size over 6 GB!. All these files are stored in the portal roots (/Portals/0/)&160;and underlaying folders.
For easier file & folder managment we would like to use DMX instead of DNN's native FileManager.
How can we setup DMX to use the existing dnn port...

Recover files for non-host user 3522 2
Started by Brad O.
Dumb question...
How the heck do I give a user other than host access to RECOVER files&160; I see no options under permissions to allow that.&160; Even if I give a user admin permissions, they can't see or recover the deleted files.&160; If I login as HOST, I see the deleted files and can recover them fine.
Thanks,
Brad O.

File Owner permission possible? 3132 1
Started by Terence
Is there any way to set permissions so that the author is the owner of the file with specific permissions, or&160;are permissions only set by&160;roles over&160;instances or folders&160;&160;&160;&160;
I have multiple users that need the ability to upload files into common&160;folders&160;/ project areas, but other users should not be able to edit or delete these files, but the&160;author/owner should still have the permission to edit or delete.&160;&160;&160;

Importing document attributes 3752 1
Started by Gus
I need to import a large number of documents in DMX.&160; I think this process shouldn't be too difficult.
However, these documents come with a database of attributes such as dates, owners, types, descriptions etc etc.
I am really worried about how difficult it will be to get this information into the system. My guess is that I will&160; need to import the data into a table and then run updates against the DMX_entries and or attributes tables. One of my concerns is that the file names will c...

I have 2 questions.
1)I have a host account and about 20 portals. Each portal will have a Document Exchange module.&160; My goal is to&160;allow users to share documents to registered users of other portals under the same host account.&160; Is this possible How do I do it
2)If I can't share across portals, can I conduct a SQL query to a central database on my host account that would access the needed&160;documents for a particular portal
Many Thanks,

Hello,
Just installed DMX 5 module on site today. Have a security group for employees that I want to access and edit/add items to a folder. Setup security settings so employee users have all permissions. These users are unable to see the New Item button among others they should have when in/on that folder.
Any ideas

Auto permissions 3651 1

I have a website that allows users to setup private portals. I am trying to use Doc Exchange to allows members of the private&160; portals to share documents.
I want the permissions to allow the site administrator to have full control of the documents. For other members they should have read only permission, unless it is a document that they uploaded in which they too should have full control.
So a user can delete documents that they have uploaded, but not delete those uploaded by others.

Importing data using Mac OS X 3315 1

Hi Peter,
We are currently using the trial version of DMX 5, and the company is primarily Mac based.&160; I have searched in the forum but have yet to find a similar question regarding this issue. When importing into DMX, the only option it gives me to locate the files/folders on my computer is to type in the 'directory' of the folder.&160; If you are not familiar with Mac machines, they do not use this convention for their files and folders.
In the DNN file manager however, the import menu ...

Media Streaming? 4642 6
Started by Eric
I'd like to store training video segments that our Training Department has made. I added a couple files that are Windows Medai formats to DMX. But they don't seem to stream. If I put the files somewhere in IIS, it works ok.
I'm using the 'Show Direct Link' url as the URL for an object tag in HTML.
