Folder Premission Settings 3775 1
Started by Arick
Hi Peter,
I have rencently implemented strict security on a particular folder structure inside my portal.&160; On this folder structure I have granted specific security roles Add/Edit premissions but didn't select view.&160; In doing so I have discovered that users who have the ability to add and edit do not by default have the ability to view.&160; I'm curious to know why you do not recurvisley grant view on Add/Edit premissions to a folder.&160; If they are unable to find the folder how ...

Peter,
We have an admin account who encountered random Critical error when trying to Edit Attributes for folder permission. The errors occured when he tried to modify the View, Edit, etc folder permissions for an individual folder.
Front end message is ' &160;A critical error has occurred. Object reference not set to an instance of an object.'&160; I also checked the logViewer, they are all about permission errors, but on various methods.&160;&160; this is one of these errors.&160; also o...

DMX Documents Missing Source Files 4450 3
Started by VarunC
Hi,
&160;
Recently we utilized a new installation of DMX 4, and uploaded around 2200 documents to the module. Very strangely Many of the documents are now missing from the module.
&160;
I mean The DMX_Entries table is now displaying count=2282 docuemnts where ENTRY column is NOT NULL, but the Portal Root of the site is displaying a count of 1818 .resources Files ONLY.
&160;
Also, I've not checked All documents but Many documents that are displayed in DMX module when Downloaded is throwi...

Categorizing multiple files 3787 1
Started by Matthew Cushing
We're in the midst of upgrading our whole portal and moving all of our policies and procedures to the new portal and using DMX5.
My question is, is it possible to categorize multiple files simultaneously&160; I believe yuo can do it when you're unzipping the file (very COOL feature btw), but I hadn't created categories yet, so I missed that opportunity.
thx,
M

Hi Peter,
If a DMX install started out with the 'Number of versions set to the default of -1 (keep all), and later was changed to '1', what is the easiest way to delete all of the old versions so they do not show up in searches

Windows DFS for file storage location??? 3997 1
Started by Dan
Our DNN portal is installed on our&160;Corporate Intranet with Active Directory.&160;We&160;presently store our repository files outside of the DNN application&160;using Distributed File System/DFS Namespaces. We are also using DFS replication for all of our other remote locations to access the files.
I do not see where you module supports UNC path for file storage location or am I missing something

Single-Sign On Permissions 3758 1
Started by pmarkiewicz
It is my understanding that DNN can allow someone in an Active Directory to sign on to DNN.&160; If I then grant permissions to a user in the active directory by using the Windows->Properties menu, will DMX recognize those permissions&160; Or would those permissions have to be granted through the web interface
Thanks.

Migrating From Other Filesystem 3760 3
Started by pmarkiewicz
I currently have a set of files stored in a system with associated security rights.&160; If I were to migrate those files to document exchange 4, what are the necessary tables/columns that would need to be synchronized with my existing set of files&160; I.e. it would be relatively simple for me to copy these files using the WebDav mechanism, but I believe the permissions would be set to that of the user who performed that copy.&160; I would appreciate any suggestions.&160; Thanks.

Storing files > 2GB 4145 2
Started by A B
The FileSize column of the Entries table and all the API to acces it stores the filesizes as signed 32bit integer.&160; This causes the entries filesize to be stored and display incorrectly when handling files > 2GB.
Would it be possible to have the database and API modified for the next release to use 64bit integers instead

Repository Location - Not Secure 4445 4
Started by lprager
The Repository Location is set once for the portal and affects all modules in the portal.
It can be set by the portal Administrator; however, I do not see any way to restrict setting the Repository Location to the Host (SuperUser).
Since it can point to any directory the Admin can circumvent security by pointing to a directory that is used for another portal or even a system directory. On a hosted implementation this could allow a single portal administrator to bring down the whole server. Tak...

Peter,

Files not uploading in tree >3 levels deep 3500 4

I am having an issue getting files to upload (or appear) when the file tree gets more than 3 levels deep. To the user posting the file it seems to go fine, but to everyone else the file does not appear. There is indication that the file was/is there but I can not retrieve, edit, nothing with it.
Is there a limitation to the levels you can have in the tree structure
