Document storage on a different server on LAN via UNC Folder Provider? 3352 2
Started by Larry Daniele
Hi Peter, To meet certain security requirements, my client would like to store documents off of the web server on another less-accessible server on their LAN (not off in the cloud somewhere). Would it be possible to do this by installing a third-party Folder Provider such as DNNGlobalStorage from Evotiva and mapping a folder to a UNC path I.E. If I specify a UNC-mapped folder in the DNN file system as the DMX Storage Settings > Repository Location will this work from the DMX side (I'm no...

Approach for Download Only 2773 1
Started by Bryan Beswick
I have a situation where I want to store documents in DMX and want to allow unauthenticated users to download them if given a download link. I DO NOT, however, want to give them the ability to browse-for or search-for documents - only to download them if they have the right link. How would I do that I thought about making a DMX module visible to All Users but I think that might allow them to browse and/or search.

Strategy for pruning files > 1 month old? 2729 2
Started by Larry Daniele
Hi Peter, We are using the Letterbox extension to allow clients to upload files to us for processing. When a file is more than 30 days old, we would like to 'prune' (delete) it from the repository. Can you suggest a good strategy for doing this Can this be done with a scheduled SQL script perhaps using some DMX stored procedure calls I understand that this requires deleting files, so would this task be easier if we store the files in the database using the 'SQL Storage Provider' f...

Sync is failing 2987 1

I'm running into an issue after I have moved our install to a different server and upgraded to the latest version of DNN and DMX. I've cleaned out the DMX repository and the Sync conflict is set to 'Source Leading'. I have all of the source files in a folder (E:\Clients) on the same drive share as the DNN installation (E:\Websites). I'm trying to re-sync DMX fresh from the source and the below is what I am getting for each of the existing collections. Any ideas 13 10:47:56 I: ...

Physical File Storage 3583 1
Started by Nishant R
Hi All, Is there a way to have DMX store files on disk storage with the same folder structure & file name as it shows on the User interface Currently DMX renames the files and stores them as one large directory. But the Server administrators require that they can physically read the folders and access files if required without going through the website on which DMX is installed. Currently the only way to access the uploaded files is to go through DMX interface. We don't want the website ...

Move main upper level folder from current location 3230 5
Started by dsteinmetz
We are currently in the process of migrating our existing DNN - DMX setup to a different server. Currently the main folder that houses all of the DMX indexed content sits on our C:\FolderName\ClientX location. We'd like to move it on the new server to be at F:\FolderName\ClientX where the only thing that is changing is the C drive to F drive. Is there an easy was to switch all of the folders locations that are in DMX to repoint to this new location without having to redo the DMX module

S3 Issue with 6.1 3678 8
Started by Brandon Hartsell
Peter, I updated to 6.1 today and when uploading a new PDF I get and issue trying to download the same file. I see that DMX provides a direct link to S3 file and I assume that is related to this: Enhancement: S3 storage provider now supports direct access to files, bypassing the web server. Security is maintained using S3's ability to ask for a temporary key. The problem is I am getting this message: This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The doc...

6.1.1 - S3 still not downloading files 3140 4
Started by Brandon Hartsell
In 6.1.1 if you use S3 as storage the properties are not set in S3 properly yet. If you upload say an mp3 file it will try to open the file in the browser. To get it to work correctly i have to manually set the properties to: Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=FILENAME.EXT Content-Type: binary/octet-stream Then it behaves properly. Obviously manually doing this is not a long term solution. Can we please get this fixed this was not an issue in previous versions before the direct...

Folder Structure & Permissions 3302 2

Hi All, I am having great difficulty trying to set various levels of permissions. The Document Library is made up of 6 levels. All Users can see the very top Tier. Within each of these folders users should not be able to set any permissions but only add new Folders, Files. Once they have added their new file it...

Reindex Portal vs Reindex Installation 3180 1
Started by Kate
Can you explain what the difference is Reindexing installation takes a very long time and frequently times out, whereas reindex portal doesn't have the same problem. If we have only one portal, is necessary to run the Reindex Installation script if we run into a problem or do some kind of an update It's not clear to me, and I'd like to avoid running the Reindex Installation script as much as possible.

Corrupted Files Won't Download 3160 2

I'm starting a new thread on this to start clean. 1. Files were stored on Amazon AWS and client wanted them off Amazon and on the server. 2. I changed the settings to the local server. 3. Files are instead corrupted as they won't download upon request - start to run but hang. If I FTP them down they won't op...
